Foreign Ownership Legislation

Description
Elizabeth Berg, FNF, and Elizabeth Blosser, ALTA, will facilitate the September 28, 3-4 p.m. Eastern Time webinar on Foreign Ownership, which refers to the ownership or control of assets, businesses, or real estate in one country by individuals, companies, or entities from another country. It can take various forms, including, but not limited to, real estate ownership.

Countries have their own laws and regulations governing foreign ownership. Some countries actively encourage foreign investment to stimulate economic growth, while others may restrict it to protect certain industries or national interests. The balance between promoting foreign investment and safeguarding national interests is a complex issue.

Objectives of the webinar include:

• Hear about newly enacted laws in over a dozen states that prohibit the ownership of various types of real property by certain foreign entities or individuals
• Understand the implementation questions and challenges arising
• Learn about additional state and federal initiatives to address security concerns regarding foreign ownership of U.S. real estate
