GIS - Statewide Document Index Pros & Cons

Description
A statewide property records index is a centralized searchable database or system that compiles indexed information, e.g., grantor/grantee, PIN, instrument type, from recording jurisdictions across an entire state or geographic region. The purpose of a statewide property record index is to provide a comprehensive, accessible, and uniform source to help find property information that can be used by government agencies, real estate professionals, researchers, and the public for various purposes, including legal research, property transactions, taxation, trends and urban planning.

This session will explore the benefits and barriers for recording jurisdictions considering the option of access to property records data via a statewide searchable index.
